Fundecit establishing partnership with Agostinho Neto University

The Deputy General Director of the Foundation for Scientific and Technological Development (FUNDECIT), Dr. Rosa Maurício and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at the Agostinho Neto University (UAN), Prof. Fernanda Benedito signed this Wednesday morning ( 10/26/2022), at the FUNDECIT facilities, a partnership agreement to hold the Workshop on Integrity and Ethics in Scientific Research next December.





The agreement is intended to promote the conformity of scientific policies and practices with academic communities and society, the search for regional and global experiences that will enable the creation in Angola of references, standards and ethical standards in science, technology and innovation .

On October 18th, the parties were already approved as a first partnership, formalized on the Campus of University A, formalized from the first partnership, Neto, to train researchers in the writing and publication of scientific articles, as well as for the preparation and submission of scientific projects for financing through, respectively, the Scientific Articles Preparation Course (CEAC) and the Scientific Research and Development Project Preparation Course (CEPID).

This initiative is part of strengthening the scientific capacity of Higher Education Institutions and Scientific Research and Development Institutions, as well as strengthening the National System of Science, Technology and Innovation (SNCTI) as a whole, with a view to increasing the amount and quality of scientific production, as well as the success of applications for funding for national scientific projects.

FUNDECIT Forum 2022

The Foundation for Scientific and Technological Development (FUNDECIT), overseen by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation and the Ministry of Finance, held the FUNDECIT Forum 2022, under the slogan "More and Better Investment in Science and Development", with the Honorary Committee including Her Excellency the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Maria do Rosário Bragança (Co-Chair), Her Excellency the Minister of Finance, Dr. Vera Esperança dos Santos Daves Sousa (Co-Chair), the President of the 6th Specialized Commission of the National Assembly, MP Victor Kajibanga, the Acting Representative of the Organization of Nations for Education, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Maria do Rosário Bragança (Co-Chair). ª Vera Esperança dos Santos Daves de Sousa (Co-Chair), the President of the 6th Specialized Commission of the National Assembly, Deputy Victor Kajibanga, the Interim Representative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Angola, Dr. Grázia Piras, the President of the Angolan Banking Association (ABANC), Dr. Mário Ferreira do Nascimento and the President of the Industrial Association of Angola (AIA), Dr. José Severino Vasconcelos.



The objective of the event was to publicize, among the national scientific community, institutions and society, the potential of FUNDECIT as a new national actor in science and development, collect contributions and mobilize organizations and researchers in favor of financing and strengthening research.
The opening session was chaired by Her Excellency Minister of Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Dr. Maria do Rosário Bragança, flanked by the Consultant to the Minister of Finance, Dr. Hermenegildo Cosme representing Her Excellency Minister of Finance Dr. Vera Esperança dos Santos Daves de Sousa, by the President of the 6th Specialized Committee of the National Assembly, Deputy Victor Kajibanga, by the Vice-Governor of the Province of Luanda for the Economic Area, Dr. Lino Sebastião Kienda representing the Governor of the Province by Luanda Architect Ana Paula de Carvalho and by the General Director of FUNDECIT, Prof. Dr. Mário Fresta.
In the opening speech, the President of the Act provided important guidelines and contributions for better articulation between FUNDECIT and its financiers, beneficiaries and partners.
Then, the General Director of FUNDECIT, Prof. Doctor Mário Fresta, gave a succinct presentation of the Foundation's mission, vision, structure and operation, calling for the cohesion of all stakeholders and partners around the challenges of science and development.
A round table was then held with in-person and online participation from Higher Education Institutions and Research Institutions across the country, moderated by Prof. Dr. Ricardo Queirós and Prof. Dr. Jone Heitor, where four distinguished scientists presented and debated the different experiences, successes, constraints, opinions, perspectives and proposals on science financing in Angola.

The aforementioned round table speakers were, in particular:

  • Prof. Dr. Albano Vicente Lopes Ferreira, Magnificent Rector of Katyavala Bwila University;
  • Prof. Dr. Anabela da Graça Alexandre Leitão, Director of the Separation, Chemical Reaction and Environmental Engineering Laboratory;
  • Prof. Dr. Adérito Pais Cunha, General Director of the National Center for Scientific Research;
  • Prof. Dr. Joana Felipa de Morais Afonso, Director of the National Institute for Health Research.

 

The event Secretariat will consolidate and share in a timely manner the main focuses and positions of the debate, possible conclusions and recommendations. The FUNDECIT 2022 Forum was closed by Her Excellency Minister of Finance, Doctor Vera Esperança dos Santos Daves de Sousa, Co-president of the Honor Committee.
